We recently spoke with fellow Member Mr James Chang and his daughter, Ms Stella Chang, who shared with us his trove of vintage commercial paintings from China. Many of his paintings were purchased in Shanghai, China around 1995 from street vendors, who sourced them from families who kept these old paintings for profits. As collectors’ interest in these paintings grew, especially among the Taiwanese, these authentic paintings slowly disappeared from stores, and many counterfeits surfaced.

Many of you may know Mrs Nan Sandford, who has been a Member for over six decades. Having relocated to Australia two and a half years ago, she and her family were delighted to be back in Singapore recently for vacation. Mrs Sanford was notably the first lady elected onto the Club’s General Committee in 2001, and since then, had served on the Committee and Sub-Committees of Children’s Activities, Club Relations, Entertainment, Food & Beverage, Library, Magazine, Tennis, Bridge, and Staff, for over a decade.

Fellow Members, Mr Andrew Trevatt, Mr Alan Nisbet, Mr John Taylor, and Club President Mr Robert Wiener, along with four friends from Singapore, recently took a drive of a lifetime, from the United Kingdom, to France, Italy and finally, Monaco – in eight Ferraris, no less! Mr Trevatt shares with us their enthralling journey that took place over a week.
